120 TALKS is a lecture series held before and after the competition. The talks consist of lectures and debates that discuss the competition’s yearly theme, as well as more general topics of contemporary architecture. It aims not only to inspire participants, but also to reflect and question the vast field of architecture.
The highlight of this year’s 120 TALKS is the Jury Talks. Our highly qualified jury members: Ellen van Loon, Nanne De Ru, Eva Franch, Alfredo Brillembourg and Martin Brandsdal will each contribute with a seperate lecture. The Jury Talks will expand over two days at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and intend to discuss this year′s theme and hopefully contribute to a larger architectural discussion. There will also be a more unformal talk at 0047 on the night before the jury (February 26th). At this event, you will be able to see all of the proposals of 120 HOURS 2014 hanging on the walls!
As a kickoff for the competition and the first 120 TALKS, we have invited Superunion Architects. Johanne Borthne is a previous 120 HOURSjury member, and will with her partner Vilhelm Christensen present their architecture submissions in previous competitions.
The 120 TALKS aims not only to inspire participants, but also to reflect and question the vast field of architecture. The events are open to everyone and thus encourage to bring important architectural discussions to the public. The events will aslo be streamed online and can be a guiding tool during the competition’s intense hours.
As a final event, we want to take a retrospective look at the competition as whole through a panel debate. This event will of course end with a party to celebrate this year′s participants and award the winners of 120 HOURS 2014! More information on panel participants, artist’s and DJ’s for the Award Ceremony will be announced later on. Stay tuned!
